Mercury Retrograde in Leo - The Lazy Days of Summer 2011

It's Mercury retrograde time again! 3 or 4 times every year Mercury turns retrograde for about 3 weeks. Mercury is the ruler of communications and travel, so when he turns retrograde, delays and interruptions can occur. This retrograde may start off a little crazy, but it should end without any extra ammunition.

When a planet turns retrograde, it appears to be moving backward against the sky. This happens because it is passing the Earth or the Earth is passing it on the solar "race track." You can see the same optical illusion when you pass a car on the highway. All of the planets in the zodiac, except the Sun and Moon, will turn retrograde periodically, and the slow outer planets are in retrograde almost as much as they are moving direct. Astrologers pay more attention to Mercury's retrograde than the other planets, because Mercury is a very fast planet orbiting the Sun every 88 days, resulting in a retrograde about every 3 1/2 months.

Mercury is the messenger, and he can influence transportation, conversations, internet transactions, and even our automobiles. Mercury's retrograde itself is not usually difficult, but the stations (when a planet is changing directions) are usually when the problems erupt. In general, when Mercury is in retrograde, its a time to look to the past. We are more likely to reconnect with old friends, and often ghost hunting is more successful. Its also an excellent time to review files and records, and even clean out the closet, attic, or storage area. Personally, I've found that people or pets who are old and tired are also more likely to pass over during Mercury's retrograde.

This Mercury retrograde will begin in Virgo, but it will only take about 5 days for Mercury to regress back to fun loving Leo. During those first few days of Mercury switching from a forward to a reverse motion, Neptune will be at an opposition to Mercury. Gossip could be a big problem, and stupidity may also play a part in the confusion. Be sure to backup important computer files ahead of time, and if you are traveling be ready for delays. There could also be problems with addictions with Neptune involved, so be sure to watch out for the drunk driver during these first few days.

Once Mercury gets backed into Leo and out of Neptune's influence, it should be a rather typical retrograde. Mercury will cross Venus and the Sun (which he always does) and then turn around with no discord. Many astrologers say not to sign contracts or initiate any writing projects while Mercury is in retrograde, but we really can't stop living just because the astrologer says to. I wouldn't say not to sign any contracts, but put off those major life changing decisions until next month. It will be a great time for family and class reunions, and maybe just take a trip back to the house where you grew up. Leo loves drama, so Mercury retrograde in Leo would also be an excellent time for a vacation. Just make sure you are not in any hurry, because the delays could be quite entertaining.

Astrology Forecast for August 2011 - General Tendencies for All Sun Signs

Mercury's retrograde will be dominating most of August, and shortly after Mercury turns direct, Jupiter will turn retrograde. Therefore, we will probably find ourselves drawn to issues from our pasts most of this month. There could also be a few distractions popping up with Mars aspecting 4 of the 5 outer planets this month, and progress may get put on the back burner. Kick back on the lawn chair as much as you can this month and have another Mint Julep, because life may be taking you on a roller coaster ride.

August and Ramadan will begin with all kinds of planetary commotion. Mercury will be approaching his retrograde station (Aug 2nd) while opposing Neptune, so minds may be confused, and travel could contain lots of detours. The Sun will be arguing with Jupiter, and that could lead to bad luck, personal problems, and a lack of motivation. Venus and Uranus will be complimenting each other, so we may also encounter unexpected good fortune and/or romance. And lastly, Mars and Neptune will be singing in the background. This could bring creative energy and strong, accurate intuitions.

By Thursday, August 4th, life could be changing again with Mars, Venus, and the Sun moving on to new targets. Thursday and Friday could turn out to be very busy days. Mars and Saturn (two very opposite planets) may be causing lethargy, jerky motion, and lots of extra work for us from August 23rd through Saturday, August 27th, and Mercury will be turning direct, (Direct Station) on August 26th, creating travel and communication problems. So, our work could be hard, our energy low, and our messages may be misunderstood. But... Venus and Pluto will be holding hands in the background, which could help to sweeten the ordeal. Mercury, Mars, and Saturn may be causing problems, but Venus and Pluto will bring good friends to help us through it.

Most of the excitement should end by Saturday, August 27th, and many will be ready to make a few changes for the better in their lives. The Sun and Pluto will be singing in harmony on the Virgo New Moon on August 28th. It will be a great day for cleaning and setting goals. Jupiter will turn retrograde on the last day of Ramadan, August 30th, but Venus will be at a very positive aspect to Jupiter helping to ease the process. Those with dominate Sagittarius in their charts may actually welcome the slowdown.

Mercury Retrograde: What, Why, When, Where and How

The term "Mercury Retrograde" is often misused or misunderstood by the public at large yet it is quite easy to understand how and when this celestial event will effect us astologically. By referencing coming Retrograde Periods we can mark our calendars and use natal charts to see when and how we will be touched. By taking these simple steps we can objectively foresee with confident clarity and engage accordingly with Mercury retrogrades rather than be at the mercy of unfolding events.

As the "winged messenger" Mercury appears from Earth to be moving backwards during these 3 week windows thrice a year be prepared for certain upsets regarding all things communication, transportation and mechanically related.

How Does Zodiac Sign Astrology Work?

There are many forms of astrology, so what form is it that astrologers in newspapers and on-line use and does their advice really work?

Newspaper and on-line astrologers write columns based on the Sun, or Zodiac sign, from when a person's birthday occurs. So, for example, if someone is born on the 4th of August, they would be a Leo, because the zodiac sign of Leo, begins on 23rd of July and ends on the 23rd of August. So each zodiac sign's life is around 4 weeks long.

There are twelve zodiac signs, beginning with Aries, running through Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and finally Pisces.

Each one of these sign has unique characteristics, and are governed by four different Elements of Fire, Earth, Air and Water, and three different Qualities, known as Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable.

And everyday, the planets of the Sun, the Moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, are all forming angles to one an other, which creates energies known in astrology, as aspects. 11: Your Vision of the Future

Children are beautiful teachers. Their hearts are pure and they have not learned yet to hide their true emotions.

One lovely lesson my daughter has taught me is that suffering is an unnecessary part of the human experience. Suffering has nothing to do with outside events, but Everything to do with your REACTION to them.

In other words, what happens will happen. And no matter what is happening, you have a choice as to how you FEEL about it.

Since 11 is one of my daughter's important birth numbers, she understands about choice, discernment and division. She has shown me that, no matter what happens in my life, I can choose HOW I move through any experience.

I can choose to DEFINE my experiences, NOT to let the experience define me.

In 2011, all of us are learning about Master Number 11. To walk through the 11 gateway, keep moving forward - don't stagnate and get defined by others.

And never stop changing, adjusting, tweaking, transforming your VISION.

Di-vision is to separate from your vision. It is the shadow side of the number 11 - the di-vision from God, from Spirit, from our essence, our soul.

Remember, 11 is the psychic, intuitive number. If you doubt your intuition, then the two 1's of number 11 are experienced as separate, because you have doubted the relationship between your heart and your mind. This is when the two 1's divide and face themselves in battle, instead of symbolizing ONE open door to unity.

Closing the 11 door happens in a state of fear. Opening the 11 happens in a state of joy.

One way to instantly walk through the 11 gateway is to meditate. Meditation is one of the best tools for feeling fully conscious and happily engaged with life.

Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to sit and meditate in order to be in a state of total awareness. You can raise your energy at any time of day using many different tools of meditation.

The ecstasy of "being awake" can be experienced in infinite ways.

One form of mediation that I love is to stop doing what I am doing for just a moment right now. For example, if I am inside working, I stop what I am doing, get up and look outside, take in the scene and slowly breathe in while noticing the tiniest things I would not have noticed before.

Or I get up and go watch my daughter at play. Children playing is a sublime part of life.

These 'stop-what-I-am-doing' meditations bring immediate alertness and joy. You appreciate life in an instant by feeling blessed.

An alternate way to meditate, and one of my favorites, is to walk. When you walk in an awakened state you hear every bird chirping, feel the ground under your feet and breathe in the scent of every flower. You'll receive brilliant insights while walking. Moving your body is a great way to wake up.

Another form of meditation comes while just DOING something.

For example, last night, my daughter was in bed asleep after we had a fun day with friends. I felt tired and was ready to go to bed. Yet, suddenly a phrase appeared in my mind about a future project I was planning. I decided to grab a pen and legal pad and sat down on my bed.

I wrote for 30 minutes straight, letting the initial idea flow into a creative plan. By the time I put down the pen, I had received exactly what I needed to implement my project.

It was a totally unexpected blessing I could have easily ignored.

The secret was that at that moment I was open to the experience. I did not fight the moment and let the initial spark of inspiration evolve into a highly satisfying period of 'doing'. In fact, I felt so invigorated, I stayed up for three more hours in a happy, blissful state.

So, you don't have to sit in a lotus position to experience true wakefulness or meditation. In fact, all you need to do is to seek and find the beauty everywhere around you. Then everything you 'do' is done in a state of meditation.

Meditation means living in a wakeful state.

Even while cleaning up after a meal, you can enjoy the warm soapy suds as you wash dishes. Prepare your meal by thanking the organic farmer who brought you this nourishment by returning the love as you cook your food.

Right now I am marveling at the wonders of watching my thoughts appear as words on my computer screen.

Don't resist any moments of your life. Each one creates YOUR experience here on earth.

Meditation is experiencing ecstasy in every moment of life.

All you have to do is open up on the inside. Walk through the 11 Gateway into Unconditional Love.

Feel as a child experiences the world - with no expectation - fresh and for the first time.

It is no coincidence that the 11 gateway is made of two pillars representing two 1's - Double Beginning. So 11 means Mastering your life by Beginning fresh at every moment, every hour, every day.

Listen to the silence. Hear your soul. Experience the joy.

Open the door and see your vision. In 2011, a 4 Universal Year of Manifestation, you can easily manifest di-vision - or just as easily create your VISION.

Cancer represents the energy of roots, of nurturing, of where we come from, and where we keep on coming back to be ourselves.
